Treatment for Boys and Girls in Love

Our concept explores ecological issues while trying to promote a youthful, fun and original band. Our 50 styled video includes 3 elements; cycling, performance and preparation which leads to the climax of lighting up a tree through pedal power motions. We have chosen a 1950’s theme in order to present a contrast between the two eras, then and now, and communicating the fun and free lifestyle that they once had. By making this connection we are able to imply how positive life can be if, as a society, we were able to address issues which are threatening our environment
In the cycling scenes we will set up the 50’s atmosphere and introduce the band to the audience. We will film them cycling down a lane using a selection of different angels whilst showing members of the public join in. This presents a sense of community and friendship which attracts our target audience through the positive atmosphere. Overall this element conveys a care-free environment where they have no responsibilities and just focus on being happy.
The performance will be set in a field and a studio. In the field we will show the members of the band performing whilst there’s a crowd around them dancing, having fun which again conveys a care-free environment with no worries or fears of the outside world.
The preparation of the tree will gradually be built into the video, revealing very little about what’s going on and therefore adding suspense and anticipation to what it will be revealed. By the end of the video we see the tree being lit through pedal power motion and that’s the big climax. This shows that their being good to the environment which is very important in today’s society and gives out a positive optimistic approach to life.
This represents the band to be good role models and therefore attracts their target audience. Their target audience is from 15-24. The target audience will be interested in their life style as they show the importance of peer relationships, the environment, music, energy and being young and free.

15-24, male and female. Students

Psychographic profile:

Our target audience members would be festival-goers who listen to original, unique styles of music. They find their music from word of mouth, small music gigs and music shops that sell vinyl records. Other bands that’s they are inspired by would be passion pit, vampire weekend, the foals and the mystery jets. Older bands that they may like would be the smiths and the cure. Our target audience would have an alternative, original styled dress sense and laid back attitude to society.
