How does the audience feedback on your project confirm or disrupt your original/intentions on the film sequence?

I published my project on “Youtube” so I was able to gather feedback from other people and students to see what they really thought about it. I managed to receive lots of feedback some positive and some negative which really helped me to see if my intentions of the film was met.
Many of the comments focused on the use of steady cam and the home video idea. We used the steady cam to make it look as realistic and natural as possible and so when theses strange events occur e.g. when we see the man on the stairs it will frighten the audience a lot more because its a real like situation which could happen to you. It was risky doing the opening sequence so differently to others and it was difficult to know if it was going to work out, but from this positive feedback it has. They also believe that using the steady cam did make it more tense and sinister for them and was very naturalistic which was our main aim. These comments shows that our naturalistic idea of the steady cam and video recorder worked:
“Well done, Sinister, and tense. Very naturalistic which makes it that way. Nice steady cam. Very well made.”
“I like the home video effect used in this opening sequence, it is very realistic.”
“The steady cam works really well with the naturalism and the shadows really act well” “Great. Really suspense. Keeps entertained. Love the naturalism of it, so when we see the mad guy there is more of a fearful impact that this normal family will be attacked by the mad man.”
“Really well made, especially the home video!”
This confirms that we managed to create the perfect atmosphere using the steady cam however there were many other elements to this. This included the use of sound, editing, camera effects, the mask and the plot. One person did comment on this saying,
“Interesting camera effect with the camera mask. I like how it shows what the room looked like previously before the child moved in.” From such positive feedback I can strongly say that I believe our project did meet original intentions for the film and we've come out with a successful and gripping opening sequence that meets the audiences satisfaction.
